This is a co-operative effort by faculty members in the Department of Geography, University of Victoria, who set out to produce a comprehensive, geographical appreciation of the westernmost Canadian province. Topics discussed include the evolution of British Columbia's regional character; landmark maps; population and ethnic groups, especially the Chinese; urban systems and single enterprise communities. In addition, climate, landforms, vegetation and natural hazards are reviewed, as are mining, forestry, fisheries, tourism, recreation, energy and water resources. This volume is highly recommended as a source for the educated layman wishing to learn more about British Columbia. It is also of great value as a textbook for regional geography courses.
