SOGGIES ORGANIZING FOR SPECIAL GEOG 485 COURSE IN SPRING TERM

Have you taken or are you taking Geog 385 (Environmental Aesthetics)?
Would you to study this field at a more advanced level?

Cail Smith and Erin Johnston are trying to organize a 400 level seminar
class based on the Geog 485: Landscapes of the Heart (see description
below from an old calender) in the next semester (Jan 2010). Geog 485
is not offered regularly and has recently been removed from the course
calendar, so for 3rd/4th year students this is probably your only
chance to take this class.

Lisa Kadonaga is interested in teaching the class and has kept up to
date on the material. We just need interest from other students.

Therefore, if you are interested in taking this class please email or
contact Cail Smith (smithc@uvic.ca) soon.

"Geog 485: Landscapes of the Heart
Grounded in humanistic geography and qualitative methods, this course
investigates the meaningful non-tangible relationships between
humankind and environment. These relationships include emotional
attachment (to place), aesthetics (of landscape), ethics (of
environment), and spirituality (sacred space)."
